Seems a good idea for blue water boats; closer to home I'd think modern comms would handle things.

Having said that, I can think of a case on these forums not so long ago when an anxious lady asked us to look out for her brother...

That's a neat initiative - but it doesnt have anything listed, eg the Dutch guy in the 27 footer missing in the Atlantic.
