Hi , we had this painting in our family and would be very grateful if someone could give us any clues to it's identity . it says it was 1967 painted ... I have looked through Laurent Giles Archive but nothing.
Many thanks in advance for any help .

That looks very much like a Moody Halberdier hull (designed by Alan Hill) with a custom built superstructure but without the aft cabin. In that period during the transition from wood to GRP there were many one off custom builds on production hulls particularly in the various Solent yards trying to find a place in the new market.

My first thought was a Neptunian or Neptune hybrid, (Johnson & Jago) but the aft part of the coachroof structure is a bit different, also their hulls have a distinctive moulded strake, and a trident at the front of the caveta line. Apart from that, quite similar!

Not sure it's based on a Halberdier hull: again moulding details not there and less flare on the bow.

I was about to say a Nicholson - but then noticed the superstructure. A friend had a 38, but I believe they did something a bit larger. The 38 had similar lines and sail plan.

The Nic 38 was a John Alden design and was much finer lined than this boat and not such a pronounced sheer

The Nic 38 is a very different boat:
About the Nic 38 | Nicholson 38 Owners Group

Inclined to go along with Tranona #2.
It has the look of grp boats advertised in UK magazines around the late 60s.

Have just dug out my copy of Bristow's 71 book of yachts and motor cruisers. It lists most production boats in the UK in that year.

The painting looks very much like the Moody Cavalier motor sailer, designed by Alan F. Hill, moulded by Marine Construction. Completed and marketed by A.H.Moody & Sons Ltd. She was based on Moody's Halberdier hull, but different superstructure moulding giving an aft cockpit. LOA 36' 1, LWL 28' 0, sloop rig.

There are slight differences between the painting and the drawing + photo in Bristow's, but only in the style and number of deck saloon and cabin side windows and the addition of the small mizzen. I would suggest that the OP boat was fitted out to the owner's requirements for ocean sailing as the forward deck saloon windows have been replaced by two small round port lights and the rig changed.

Incidentally, my own boat is a Trident Marine Voyager 35 but was fitted out for ocean sailing with different rig and smaller deck saloon windows.
