Hi all, I recently sold my Albin Ballad, so I contacted Y Yacht to ask if the insurance could be put on hold.

They promptly emailed back to say they couldn't do this, but would arrange a refund. Anticipating a 10% refund I cringed internally, and putit down to dealing with insurance companies.

A few minutes later I had another mail to say that nearly 50 % of my premium would be refunded.

A very pleasant surprise, so thanks Y Yacht.

Similar from Y this week. There seems to be a clause on insurance policies that admin costs eat any refund (or the bulk of them) but not with Y. How refreshingly honest. Nothing but good to say about them especially after a very big claim in 2017 (marina damage by a French sailor)

Thats noirmal insurance policy whether boats or cars. Yes there are admin costs to cover - issuing a policy and cancelling it does cost money, but that apart cancellation at 3 months normally gives a credit of 9 months.

Its different with those ****stards at Vodaphone who kept the whole of my tracker premium for the year when I sold the car after one month and then went on to sell the tracker service to the next owner. Downright dishonest Vodaphone.
