Platis Gialos, Serifos

Hi Sailors

Does anyone know if this large bay on the NE corner of Serifos is suitable for a lunch stop or overnighting in?

I've viewed it from the mountain above during the Meltemi and it's clearly sheltered from North winds.

It looks stunning and there are some ribs on moorings there. Also a small jetty.

Would be okay for a lunch stop in very good weather I wouldn't want to chance an overnighter

We overnighted there a couple of years ago. The holding seemed to be good sandy with some weedy bits if I recall. The protection from N winds was very good,but might be a bit breezy at the moment as the wind seems to be strong .
there is room to tuck yourself up into the N corner,behind the jetty.
Beware the shoal just off the headland.It's a nice spot.(the bay I mean,not the shoal)

Isn't Platys Gialos not on the island of Sifnos? IMHO at 36° 55.792'N 024° 44.009'E

One of the best all-round shelters is "Koutala" bay in the SW.

There is a Platys Gialos in both Serifos and Sifnos (and in several other islands).
