Fitted a Plastimo 608, think thats the number, mid range one! to my
Sabre 27 four years ago,had to buy a couple of extra lengths of foil to
make up the length needed, only fault I could find, Is that some of the
pre drilled holes on the joints of the foils, the countersinks was not
deep enough to hide the screw heads, not a problem easily drilled deeper keep
a eye on the screws joining the foils, couple of mine worked out!
Otherwise heartily reccomend it,
Very easy to fit as well without dropping the mast, took two of us to fit
as you need someone to hold the foils as they slide up the stay,
reccomend fitting a new stay and a diverter wheel to the top.
best of luck.

I fitted the smallest one to a 20' vivacity about 10 years ago as part of a new genoa/reefing gear deal. Easy to fit, make sure you fit the diverter wheel if supplied or the modern equivalent. No problem with operation and I was quite happy with it - but only used it for 2 seasons. Had to get extra pop rivets direct from Plastimo as there wern't enough in the box - but Plastimo very helpful and sent extra rivets by return - this may have been because the reefing gear was an ex-display model.

Fitted an 800 series at the start of last season. Easy to fit with the rig up but had to modify my forestay (Remove the rigging screw as it would not fit through the middle of the drum).

Worked a dream

Have a 608 on the Genoa, works OK but does sometimes jam as the control line jumps into the gap bewteen the drum sides and the top of the swivel housing. Fastened a short length of narrow round section across top of feed slot and is now perfect.

The smallest one, 406?, I've adapted for use as a behind mast mainsail reefer and this works very well, and it came with a guide for the control line.

The smallest one, 406 I think, is fitted as standard on my Horizon 23. It works OK with no problems except that a couple of times the reefing line has got snarled up through being allowed to hang slack when the jib was fully unfurled. Nowadays I make sure the reefing line is kept cleated with a bit of tension in it.

Surprised about the reefing line jamming on the drum, never had a
problem with mine!
Do they still supply systems with rivets? mine is held together with
countersunk machine screws.

Personally I find them plasticky. I had a few problems with one on a Vega a few years back. I changed to the Rotostay which is a much more robust system and comes with a complete new forestay. I fitted it with the mast up using the genoa and spinnaker halyards as temporary forestays. Fitted in a couple of hours and works beautifully. I know they are dearer but a better system altogether in my own personal reasoning. Have a look at both and compare then make your mind up. I have no connection with Rotostay and indeed if I could afford it I would buy a Furlex System 100S but almost double the price of Rotostay.
