Plastimo P240L Inflatable Dinghy

I am inclined towards the Plastimo P240L on grounds of (a) cost and (b) weight.
Next choice would probably be the SEAGO 2.3 at same price but heavier.

Does anyone have any comments (good or bad) on these dinghies? I am a bit puzzled why the Plastimo is so much lighter than most others, given that they all appear to be made of 1000 denier PVC. Weight is important to me as usually single-handed.

Also, anyone know of anywhere chi/ems/portsmouth where they actually have the plastimo on display?

Vic, I had one of these once and got rid of it sharpish. It showed signs of wear after only a couple of outings. It might be ok if used gently and mainly kept inflated; it seems to be the inflation / deflation and stuffing into a locker cycle that sees them off. One Plymouth dealer told me he would not stock them in future and thought they were only suitable as "toys" Brian
 
I just bought last years P240L for £250, basically because it was so rediculously cheap. My one is only 500 PVC, but the stated weight is the same as the 1000 PVC version. One of the reasons the Plastimo may be lighter is that the stated weight is incorrect. I just brought mine over to Sweden on the plane and it weighed in at over 21KG, and that is just the boat, no oars, no seat etc.

Legally (as in 'Brussels') any boat that is less than 2,5 metres long is classified as a 'jouet de plage' - a 'beach toy'! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
