I have one of these in my boat, it was the standard Hunters' fit. The rings and the oven work OK but the grill is hopeless. The flames from the burner can only get the middle of the gauze to red heat meaning that you can only grill over a narrow strip in the centre of the grill pan. Grilling bacon takes forever as you have to keep shuffling the rashers. Is there a fix for this or is it a known fault of the cooker? Is there a better cooker that would fit in the same aperture?

I assumed this was by design. Although the grill slot is the full width of the cooker, the actual grill is just a narrow section in the middle. Certainly the pan in mine is only as wide as the hot area (though it may not be the original pan).

Only thing I use it for is toast. On the boat I fry bacon, which is a good excuse for spending a little more for quality non-water-injected stuff.

Sounds like you need a new grill element. Spare parts are readily available from the manufacturer.

I've got a new one, and it's exactly the same. Only any good for toasting a single mini-bagette along the centreline. It's just a rubbish grill.

I had the same prob with my Nep 2k,your bacon is too far from the flames, raise it up.Also you are wasting gas. Bon appetit Jerry
I mean raise the grill pan itself not just the bacon obviously.

If you do intend replacing the cooker, then I and many others recommend the Spinflo Nelson as a better cooker and slots straight in as a replacement.
