I have stupidly left the screw in bung from my sailing boat in another boat i've sold. its a Plastimo one. do i have to replace the whole thing or can i just get the screw somewhere.

Probably cheaper to buy the whole thing locally than get the spare bit posted?
The plastimo ones are not as common as Holt/Allen or RWO in UK dinghy shops.
The plastimo one may be a different size though. I would go to my friendly local chandler and ask to look in his Plastimo catalogue, see if he can get it, or phone Plastimo Uk

Just another job I didn't have to do. I'm going to antifoul and hopefully launch this week. I can't believe I was so daft leaving the bung out, I've considered fibreglassing over the hole but that would be silly.

I've just had a look in my Plastimo catalogue. Spare plugs are available, part nos. 16713 and 12521. The first is a screw in plug, the second is a quarter turn fitting. One of those may be what you are looking for.

They both have holes in them so you can tie the things to the boat in future!

Quite, but so many cheap wines come with screw tops these days. Have a pre-prandial Sherry, it's a good old custom, doncha know? And follow the meal with cheese & a decent Port. Then you will have 2 bungs, adequate for one dinghy.

and possibly a nasty hangover if you are alone . . .

You could just hammer in a cork out of an old wine bottle or an old Whiskey bottle - the ones with a top hat shaped cork are best (both the Whiskeys and the corks) - Don't ask how I know this......
