We have a Plastimo 810T headsail roller reefing system but when you unfurl it the rope winds around the drum at the bottom and then jams. It needs a guide. I have found a Plastimo rope pre-feed but can't find a picture of how it works, is this what I need?
Thanks

Hi, I have the same system on my boat, and have had similar jams on occasion.

I finally cured it by fitting a spinlock furling line lead, similar to this;

to the aft most tube on the pulpit.

However this still needed to be carefully set so that the angle of the lead to the drum is as close to 90 degrees as you can get it and set so that the line enters the middle point of the line drum.

Once I had this set I didn't have any further trouble.

good luck

I have also had this problem with a Plastimo 810. I seem to have cured it by by adjusting the furling line lead as above, but it doesn't leave me full of confidence, and I can see it happening again in the middlle of the North Sea in a rising wind. There was I remember a yachting magazine article about this exact problem, where the contributor cured it by drilling holes in the plastic cheeks on each side, and then using an arrengement of three long shackles with the central one acting as a fairlead. Apparently this did the business.
