Does anyone have any information on the best material for replacing those long, narrow screw down coachroof windows as fitted to Benetau - Jeanneau etc. Also is it best to use Sikoflex or similar or hatch type tape which I think, was used as the original method.

I assume you mean that the windows are simply screwed down with no frame.

I've seen some that have been gooped, others that have tape. IMHO, the goop looks 'orrible, while the tape, done properly looks OK. You can get the tapes from Seals Direct

You can use Perspex, which is more resistant to scratching, but polycarbonate, which is stronger and more UV resistant (properties from memory, which isn't always reliable /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

trouble with polycarbonate is that it is much softer than perspex. This softness means that it bends easier and also scratches easier as well. Provided your installation allows it to bend and not cause a leak you will be OK, and IIRC makolon is a type of polycarbonate that has a harder surface than most, but retains the strength.
