Just removed the Starboard water tank as it has failed along a plastic welded seam about 12” long. Looking for a professional repair. Does anyone know of one in the solent area. Many thanks.

I'm guessing that the tank is polyethylene or polypropylene which are extremely difficult to repair. However, you could definitely do it yourself with the stuff I used in this thread: Structural adhesive for fixing polypropylene and polythylene - found.

The water tank I fixed is till 100% watertight and has been filled to 6 inches above the split ever since I repaired it from the outside.

It's not cheap at around £20 for a small tube and you have to work quite quickly but it certainly works and without any special preparation.

Look for any of the large plastics suppliers as they all do plastic fabrication work generally. Barkstons and the like come to mind. Alternatively you could but a plastic welding torch off ebay and repair it yourself....it is remarkably easy to do !

As above, as well as car bumpers, look into motorcycle repairers - there is a lot of expertise out there in repairing the wide variety of plastics found on modern bikes.
