Hi all, need a plastic (nylon or similar) roller approx 1 1/4" wide and 1" end dia, approx 5/8" centre dia and with hole in the middle. Looked everywhere on t'internet I can think of but drawn a blank so far. Anyone out there can help??

Cheers

I made a new roller for my boat. Or to be more accurate, I bought some nylon rod and a friend with a lathe made it!

You can get nylon rod cheaply on the internet from places such as this.

I see they also have acetal and Tufnol rod.

I had some tapered spacers made for an angled skin fitting in Delrin plastic. Very hard and tough and quite reasonably priced. I could recomend the the local machine shop who made them but they are in Southampton.

Hi DJE, yes it's unfortunate but most of the shops making this sort of one-off small part have disappeared from Cheshire and N Wales. One of my friends had just such a small shop making plastic thingys, but went bust and disappeared to France and don't we miss him!

Cheers

Sounds like they could send your roller by post. I used this firm:-
J. Class Engineering Ltd
Building 4, Unit 3, William St, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 5QL Tel: 023 8022 3373
No connection, etc, etc,

I bought one last year from on-line chandler "sea-screw"
They delivered to my door next day all for about a fiver if I remember.

Look on their web site under "deck + hull fittings", NOT mooring and anchoring they have ready made rollers of various sizes.
