Placing and renaming navionics iPad waypoints

Just got the app. v impressed by the cartography, less so by the documentation. AFAIK the only way to place a waypoint is within a route and I can't see how to give them meaningful names. I have purchased the nav module add on. as always thanks for any help

No afaic you don't place waypoints in the old way but simply construct a route by using the the drag and drop method. Name the route as a whole and it saves it to the route archive.

Thanks, that's how I read it. It's a pity as I like to load up my charts with named waypoints and "go to" them even though I dont have autopilot - I use the rolling road function on a normal chartplotter. Next Q is , does the app show speed? I can see that when you are going down a route it does so but does it show speed as you just go along. I havent taken the ipad out to sea yet.
