Saw this bunch of clowns off East Head on Saturday and nearly cried laughing for the first time in years. :D

They obviously decided to cook on board as the tide was in so lit the barbie in the cockpit, hoist anchor and away they went. The other two crew are in the kyak racing back from the beach while their mate turned the sausages and steered the boat. They were all wearing matching stripy t-shirts and drinking their body weight in beer! The best bit was as they left the anchorage one of them pulled out a trumpet and started playing it... very badly and very loadly!

My first thought was what a bunch of irresponsible t*ssers but then I remembered I was young once and almost certainly did some equally daft things in boats.

Priceless!

Think I saw the same boat and horn in emsworth last week tied up to someone else's mooring. I know it was someone else's because the owner turret them off as I went past. I must say it was nice to see people out using their boat and having fun.

Reminds me of seeing someone light a BBQ on the back of their boat while on a VM in Salcombe. He hadn't realised he was tide-rode rather than wind-rode so he smoked himself out rather than his neighbours - it was very difficult to fall about laughing without being spotted!

Time to run a warp to the stern then! The visitors' buoys in Salcombe don't have pickups anyway as far as I recall, so especially easy to just let out more bow line until hanging from the stern.
