Marlows

Ric, tee hee. You are someone else's employee, and your skillset is driving his vehicles and being his personal shopper. Yet it's everyone else round here that's a tosser? Erm, OK then, whatever....

Please dont say driving a G3 or whatever is a difficult job. It isn't.

Gludy is right about the Marlow though. Possibly the best built boats in their size bracket on the planet. Could be just what you want. You'll need some pull to get up the formidable waitlist, but that wont be a problem for you, just call David Marlow and tellim "Hey tosser it's your lucky day, I will be your first ever customer who isn't a tosser". Aswade, a US poster hereabouts, knows much about Marlows, though he's a tosser too (Azzura 63 - so a grade-A tosser) so he might not bother to tell you :)

Well Ric,

I don't think I mentioned 'endangering' anything...

...as to being a wimpy drippy bleating tosser, you really should hear what I think of GA pilots!

Anyhow, you're obviously going to make lot of friends here, so we'll all look forward to meeting you in the Med and hearing all about your fascinating life and enormous achievements...

(On second thoughts - you're the ideal GA man, you know, well-balanced, a chip on both shoulders...)

Re: Marlows

Ahem no - never saw it. Can you remember title of thread, or post link? Is it cos I used prohibited vocabulary? .... in which case I claim the "return of serve" exemption :)

Re: KH reminder T&C

SimP "Route Question" last entry
kind of stopped the 'conversation' even though KH was responding specifically to SimP (ooh there I am stirring it up again - ducks)

Re: define heroic boat handling

What a strange interpretation of the phrase "service industry"!?!? It is not any marina's role in life to make their rules as convoluted as possible, hide them and then impose them ridgidly in all cases. Advising visitors of the berth-booking procedure is surely a matter of the most basic courtesy - especially when the marina is aware the skipper has problems to deal with.

Re: define heroic boat handling

I am pretty certain after berthing the marinero will have advised him to go to the office and complete the paper work if this had been done the rules for visitors would have been explained .

Re: define heroic boat handling

Personally I wasn't there, but if he says it wasn't mentioned I'd believe him.

Anyway anyone in a decent service industry that isn't hankering back to the '70's would allow for the occasional screwup in comms even without a difference in native language.

Yes, the marinero did advise us to go straight to the office to complete the tiresome paper work that always seems to be necessary in Spain and, no, the office didnt advise us about their visitors berthing rules but the point was, irrespective of whether we knew the rules, we clearly had engine problems and yet the marina made no effort to help us. The other point of course is the outrageous charge for this service which is simply a rip-off
