Norwegian News report of a Norwegian freighter having been attacked by Pirates in Greece waters. Greece Navy apparently sent a frigate to investigate.
Has this been on UK news?

For those wo read Norwegian:

Apparently the ship sent an unclear distress signal. It could also be a mutiny the report says.

Greek news site reported that the captain had made an unclear distress call to the ship owners which resulted in the coastguard sending in special forces who discovered that there had been a big mistake/misunderstanding on the captains' part. The ship has now resumed its course to Portugal.

Re: Piracy in the Med not impossible.

Piracy is just a crime afloat. It's on the increase almost everywhere. The reason being that more "mainstream" criminals are finding ways of using boats to make money. Smuggling of people, drugs and anything else means that there's easy money to be made, and thats attracting some rather unpleasant boaters to more and more areas. They are seeing that quite apart from their main function there's plenty of opportunity to branch out into theft from moored yachts/ships, and some that are moving.

Rather like "in London your never more than 30m from a rat" in more and more areas your never far from a criminal.
