I'm replacing some radiator hose tomorrow. I've put pipe sealant on my shopping list but then it occurred to me I've got a tin of "Plumbers Mate" in the garage from when I replaced some radiators. Any reason I can't use this? I like to pull the pipes off the raw water pump in winter to ensure it has drained so I'd rather not us a 'strong' sealer.
I'm also replacing the short section of exhaust hose between the manifold and the muffler. Should this have some sealant? It hasn't at the moment. I was thinking of using the red gas pipe gunge. This should make it easier to get the thing off for winterising - which is what caused damage to the pipe in the first place!
