PINE NEEDLES & POTS SCOURERS

My Mirage 28 is stored ashore at a marvellous yard at Icmeler near BODRUM.
However pine needles block my cockpit drains and water builds up over the winter.
One suggested solution is to squeeze a 70p nylon pot scourer into the mouth of the drain. Pot scourers have also been suggested as an additional filter for a bilge pump, "surround the pump's plastic filter with nylon pot scourers".
Been looking in Scotland for 4 months for pot scourers with no success whatsoever.
(Heather or clumps of grass are in general use for domestic duties North of the Border)
Will be visiting England soon,
Can anyone suggest if and where "70p nylon pot scourers" are available.

I have seen people use the plastic net things that oranges etc. are sold in. I have also seen them put over bilge pumps too.

Pine needles insinuate themselves into anything and in big enough numbers will block any hole. The only thing that really works is constant movement which you can't arrange.
The scourers will, at best, only delay the blockage from becoming effective.
If you use them, make sure they stand proud of the surface and not flush or below.
Any cheap household store south of the border is likely to have them.
If you still cannot find them after your trip mail me privately and I will get some and post them.

Sorry can't let this one go without comment.
In Scotland as in most other areas of the UK there are large retail stores. ASDA, Safeway, Tesco spring to mind. If you look in there you will be able to purchase (note: barter went out a LONG time ago north of the border) for a nominal sum both the plastic net type pan scourers and also the flat green type scourers. I even use the green type for sanding.
To give the impression that (a) our level of cleanliness is any different from any other parts of the UK (b) We maybe dont want to spend money on cleaning products or (c) that we dont get supplied with 'modern' cleaning implements is cr*p.

OK gripe over.

Why don't you just get one of those cheap £5 tarpauline covers and make a tent over the boom or something else? Surely they won't blow underneath that.. Don't tell me that Scotland doesn't have those too?
