Hello everyone I am going to depart the UK this spring on a world cruise for three years, am currently trying to amass pilot books and the like, does anybody know of one for the above mentioned? Many thanks LT

The Doyles books covering all the Caribbean are much better than any of the UK publications I think... You can get them easily when you are there.

If you are doing the ABC to Panama trip then do consider very carefully the 'Christmas Winds'.... You may well find that particular passage is the roughest and toughest of a circumnavigation.. challenging. Best to do it early before the Christmas winds get established and maybe spend a bit more time in the St Blas before going into Panama.

Doyle's guides are the definitive guides for the Caribbean, though Street also has his charms. However Doyle only takes you as far as Curacao. This covers most of VZ, but a cruising boat called Pizazz does very good notes for passages to Cartagena etc. When you get there you'll be able to get the latest version from other boats, so don't worry about it now. BTW there's a marvellous guide to Panamanian waters by Eric Bauhaus which has aerial photographs overlaid with lat long grids - the only time I've seen this done. You can't get this in the UK (or I've not been able to) so if you fancy that you might want to get it from the States before you go. http://www.landfallnavigation.com/bi097.html

Are you in Spanish Water.....

Gotto Go Cruising Guide for the ABCs is rubbish. Doyles is very good and the 2007 version is out in June, but as stated it doesn;t include Curacao nor Aruba

Not on the boat at the moment, which is in Bonaire.

You are right, Doyle does not cover Curacao, my mistake. Gotto Go covers all the ABCs. Not sure I agree it's rubbish, but certainly not as good as Doyle, and better than nothing.
