Ok folks,
I've established that my boat ia a Philippa 27, designed by Robert Clark and built by Philip and son in Dartmouth around mid 1970's.
Does anyone know if any of the records from either desiner or builder have survived so that I can narrow it down a bit more.

Cheers Adam

We have the same boat! My Phillipa 27 was built about 1972 but I know little more than that. Talking to the sail maker in Woodbridge, Suffolk who told me he knew the designer the boat is based on a Harwich One Design and was the forrunner of the Verl 27. He had a book that told him various bits of information but unfortunately I don't know the title.

I am based in Brightlingsea, Essex. Boat is called Flipper. She was finished off internally by a previous owner and has a somewhat stange interior layout - 2 berth forpeak, small heads to port, dinette in salon with galley to starboard. Half size admiralty chart table to starboard with a quarter berth running under the cockpit. To port is just a 'cavern'.

I have owned Flipper for 18 months and find her great. Just waiting for the wind to drop a bit and will be off for a week or so across to France - I don't do windward with a F5 (out of choice)!!

Hi peter,
Thanks for the reply, the description of the interior is exactly the same as mine, at the bottom of the "cavern" was the fuel tank that looked like it was out of a car.
I've changed the layout as there was no practical sea-berth, I'v changed the dinette into an L shape with a smaller table. How does the chart table work as there doesn't seem to be enough room.
By the way she's called white flame which I've changed to Gael Lasair which is white flame in Gaelic she also had stickers for RNSA which I take to be royal navy sailing association.

Adam & Peter,
I too have a Phillipa 27 (Sail no. 1 as it happens), named Seraph.
Layout sounds about the same as yours. Phillips boatyard does still exist on the Dart, but now only builds massive (60m+) superyachts AFAIK.
I do have some original paperwork, the very detailed (down to the last nut) list of components used in the build, which I have found very useful, and the original PBO new boat test from 1973 I think /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I would be glad to share them, PM me if you are interested.
Cheers

My chart table is a fixed 'sideboard' arrangement to starboard aft of the galley just ahead of the pilot berth that goes right under the cockpit seat. It has sliging doors on the front with shelves inside so stowage is not well used and everything gets mixed up! I have often thought a fold up table or a table that slides away under the cockpit seat would be more practical. However having had to beat for 20 miles last monday into a F5 to get to Ramsgate I was very happy with the sturdy interior (& boats seaworthyness!)

With your L shaped arrangement - how do you get enough height under the side decks to be able to sit up? Currently I find if we are 4 sitting at the table the 2 outboard need to be small to fit under the side deck!

Crusing with a total crew of 1 last week was very comfortable - only problem was no crew to wash up!

Philips Philippa 27 sailing Yacht

Hi,
We have just recently purchased a Philippa 27 & love her to bits.

I have quite a bit of history with the boat about this particular model & would gladly scan & send them to other owners which will be no more than 8 anyhow as thats how many were ever made lol.

Thanks

Trevor

The ceramic tile was on board when I bought her. I sold her as a 'project' in 2009 when I discovered the hull was flexing - hope she has been properly repaired.

I remember Flipper, she and 3 others were moored and sailed at Torpoint sailing club from the late seventies till the late eighties. she certainly has travelled far from home

I understand that Robert Clark's records are now held by the Maritime Museum, Greenwich.

hello Robpoulter

My name is Juan Antonio and I have a sailboat Phillipa 27. This boat I bought and I'm living in Spain. I have problems to legalize boat in Spain because I asked the boat building plans

You can send me some information or documentation you have about the construction of the boat?

Do you know where I can contact the manufacturer or the shipyard to get more information?

I would make a great favor if you could share your information and documentation with me because I can not stand having the boat can not navigate land in Spain.

A greeting and thank you very much.

Hi guys!

I ask about the construction plans of the boat and I have no idea where I can find this information and how I can contact the yards or manufacturers to ask.

It would be so nice if someone in the forum to send information or construction documents
