At the yard this weekend, pumping out yet more rain water that's found its way into the engine compartment (now solved :D) NigelM had a product he called 'pig socks' ...and I coveted them...
They are a sausage shaped jobby that absorb a huge amount of liquid in relation to their size. I reckon these would be just the thing for the time being, so does anyone know where I can get hold of some in the Essex area?
I've Googled but can only seem to find firms wanting to sell them by the dozen

Cheers
Patrick

Patrick , these are what i used http://www.fosseliquitrol.com/produ...age-Control/MSC8100-50-Maintenance-Socks.aspx

but i dont know where you might get them in a small quantity :(
i will do mt best to aquire some more and let you have a couple nx time i see you at the yard , nice to meet you by the way :).

I use oil absorbant sheets under my engines so any water getting in can be pumped overboard without all the nasty rainbow patterns from oil drips, I got 12 off ebay for £14 and they work very well, for water I use a pela oil extractor to suck it out, I guess it's all down to how good your access is.

Weetabix are incredibly absorbent, three of them will soak up half a pint of milk.

(Yes, yes - don't tell me, I know your bilges aren't full of milk)
