My mate and I are still looking around for a trailable speedboat to just whizz around on when me & the missus can't get down to the west country where the main boat is berthed. Does any forumite have any experience of Pictons? One or two nice looking examples on ebay. How are they when compared to Fletchers, for example?

We used to own a 159GTS / Mariner 90 combination. It was a great little boat. Great to ski behind etc. etc. The Mariner proved to be very reliable for the 3 years we had it with minimal running and servicing costs. My friend had a 15ft Fletcher at the same time. I would say that the picton handled as well as the Fletcher. In my opinion, there's very little to differentiate between them.

The company is still going. Based in Bridgend and now making the Cobra RIBs. Think they can still build the boats if required, but are one offs. You see plenty of them around so that must be a good sign. The business was recently sold, but you can proably still get hold of one of the Picton brothers at the factory if you wanted a chat. Think the website is pictonboats?
