Re: Pic\'s of Sunseeker Portofino 47 for Compie1

Yes /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I shot the pictures with my new Nikon D200, I used a Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-70 mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED lens but shot most using a new 10.5mm f/2.8G ED AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor lens. The 10.5mm lens is the first fisheye lens developed exclusively for use with Nikon DX Format, It gives an ultra wide picture angle of 180 degrees on the DX sensor achieved by producing a smaller image circle (the size of the image that is projected by the lens on to the sensor) enabling smaller lens diameter, lighter weight and optimal image quality from center-to edge to corner on the image. This lens is equivalent to 16mm focal length on 35mm. The minimum focus distance of 0.14m (5.5 in.), or 0.03m (1.2 in.) from the lens front, makes extreme close ups possible and the close range Correction (CRC) provides high performance for sharper images when taking pictures up close. It also has extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass element to minimizes chromatic aberration. The design enables a combination of wider angle-of-view with optical characteristics that are optimized for Nikon digital SLR camera sensors and the Nikon D-type design provides precise distance information for flash and ambient light exposure processes. The rounded diaphragm is used to make out of focus elements appear more natural. The G Type DX Nikkor is designed exclusively for use with Nikon Digital SLR models like the D70, D70S, D200 e.t.c. I hope that all makes sense and helps, you will see that the centre of the shots are not distorted in any way and give a clear picture if cropped, but the rest is incorporated to give you the full picture.

Unfortunately I didn't have my SB800 external flash and had to use the in camera flash, but it worked reasonably OK in the circumstances and gives an idea of the layout of the boat.

I was able to view them on my Epson P-4000 at the show, Suncoast got exclusive sight of this gear at the show and quite liked it I think /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Glad you like the pics, just a shame you are seeing the very low resolution version shrunk for posting on here, the full scale shots at 10.2 million pixels are quite stunning.

Compie and Andy, glad you liked the pics, so are either of you going to get one? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think the new digital wide angle lens gives you a great view of the surrounding area, if you look carefuly the centre of the picture is not distorted at all, so in fact you could zoom in and crop the picture and you would not know it was from a fisheye lens. It seems to give you a better idea than any brochure, perhaps they should adopt that technique /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Glad to have been of assistance, it was all a bit of a rush on both boats bewteen viewers and no tripod or correct lighting was used, but worked out OK, I would be interested to know if the pictures have had an effect on anyone else's choice of boats /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Pic\'s of Sunseeker Portofino 47 for Compie1

i have time to go to the Boat show in Germany to visit the 47 with SWMBO but her first impression was: "looks good but hope we have as much space as on Isola Bella" if not its nope /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Since she got in SBS on S/S Manhattan 50 all she talks about is a flybridge... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) i tried to get her to the Portofino 53 with a hardtop but it does not work as well as i wanted YET /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, lets see what happens by the end of the month...
