It is actualy the north sea one of our Masters took the pictures He is from Cape Town. Says that everyone else on the boat (Poms) were crapping themselves but not him. He says it is normal for where he comes from (South Atlantic). I disagree with the F12 though. I believe the worst it got was gusting 11 with a steady 9. If I remember rightly it was last month (Feb) somewhere around the feroes.
Agree with your estimates. I've had the pleasure of a couple of years of winter gales in those waters. Once in a sustained storm for 36 hours, and over F12 for more than 5 hours. The ship handled it well except for a couple of freaks and on one ocassion fell off a large wave. Our ship was much bigger than the one pictured and there's no way we could have continued except by running with the sea on the quarter.
I have to say it was one of my most enjoyable experiences. At the height of the storm I was in the radio room and called my sister who didn't like the sound of the shrieking wind and asked me to call back when things were a bit quieter.

Now that is a fine boat.
Cut through the hull just forward of the conning tower, keeping only the forward section whack on a mast and you have my boat.
