Hi Stewart,
go to 'user options' and select personal details 'edit'
Scroll down the page and you will find there is a space to put in the location of the picture which needs to be on a webpage somewhere.
sign up to Microsoft Picture thingy (this is how you post to the web and get URL address - http://www.blah blah blah), copy picture onto their website, copy picture URL (Right click picture, properties copy URL) and stick in the spot under your personal details
Stewart - just discovered you don't need a web page. You just need a photo in .jpg format on your computer and you simply put in the filename and location where asked in the user options. Delete the http:// already in the box before you enter your file info.
Arthur the rest of us cannot access your C drive, so the photo has to be somewhere on the web, not on YOUR computer. If it's on YOUR computer only you will be able to see it, no-one else
Thanks jfm - I wondered why it had to be a URL, but when it worked for me (only me as it turns out) I assumed the picture was somewhere in the system for retrieval, as on some other forums. Now I still have to figure out how to do a URL etc. I didn't really want to become a webmaster! Couldn't it be done more simply? Kim..................!
Arthur you can open a photopoint account $9.95 and upload your pic there, then you will have a url. Photopoint account is also good for sharing pics with friends around the globe etc, they're very good
Jfm - can't justify $9.95 to put my picture on the BB, so you will just have to do without seeing my rugged good looks .
Thanks anyway for letting me know how to post my piccie. When I have photos developed nowadays I also have them uploaded through e-mail for a small extra charge. In this way I can file them on a CD for sharing and easy retrieval. My intention during retirement was to scan negs from the past 40+ years into my PC and put them in some kind of order, but the task is rather daunting as we have drawers and drawers and boxes and boxes of photos everywhere. Ah well, it's good to have an objective or two in life, no matter how simple.
Yes see your point. The benefit of photopoint comes if you have lots of friends relatives to share the same pics with. If you keep all the images on your PC you have to email them to everyone separately, and that takes time. But if you upload them to photopoint you only do that once, then each friend/relative just needs to be given the url (and password if you use one). You can organise photopoint pics into albums, with passwords (different for each album, if you want) so the right people see the right pics.
Just to try it out if you want, goto this url to see what your relatives would get if you sent them the url to one album within your account. (Sorry, these are boring pics I put on PP to sell an outboard engine and I just sent each potential customer a link to the pics - it did work I did sell it by email, even had enquiries from USA!)
I can do something similar through Wolf Camera over here. they put my photos on their site when I get a roll developed, I edit, file to CD for my use, and I can also let friends, relatives etc know the URL/password to have a peek. Difference is they are there for only 30 days unless I extend period for a small charge. Thus no good for MBY. Not as versatile as photopoint.
