Photobucket Upload

Open photo bucket photo and copy the URL (Http.....) address from the top of the page. Go to post reply on YBW and choose little square icon that says "insert image". Choose the "URL tab" in the little window that opens and paste the Photo bucket URL. Remove the tick which talks about local copy and then post.

You should end up with some text that looks like (with G instead of *) [IM*]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/pete9501/Photo-0010.jpg[/IM*]. If it puts lots of other stuff in, then cut out the code. You can do "Reply with Quote" to see how others do it and Vics solution below looks easier.

With the thumbnails visible in the library view.

Hover over the thumbnail of the required image

Then over the gearwheel icon that appears in the top RH corner

then click on "get links" in the menu that opens.

then click on the line of code headed IMG Code. It autocopies

Paste that, as previously, into your post without using the insert image icon

( Dont use the IMG thumb code .. it does not work with the new forum!)

BuT IIRC you will get the whole Photobucket page rather than just the image in your post ....... There is a setting to change somewhere to get just the image.

If I can find it and come back again!

Having just about mastered the old style photobucket, now I have no idea how to upload my images to the Forum.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please, as there may already be advice somewhere on here (although I cannot find it)

Thanks,

Michael.

Go to your library photo's.
Click on a photo.
On right side page click 'links.'
This gives you several options...click just 'direct' box, unselect the rest.
Return to albums. Each little photo has a code underneath it. Copy that code.
On this forum 'reply' page there's a little square picture of a tree at the top Right.Click.
Select 'from Url'.......paste in address you've already copied from photo.
Un-tick box that says 'remote.'
'Go'

Lie down for half an hour......

Click on your user name ( top right) Then "user settings"

select the "Albums" tab

near the bottom of the page that opens untick the " Link back to albums" box

and save

Should now all work pretty much as the old Photobucket did.

PITA all the recent changes to P'bucket. Far worse than the changes to the forum!

Unlike VicS, I don't seem to get "get links" from my gearwheel, so I either open a photo from the library or click on the thumbnail after uploading. I then see this page and click on the IMG entry, which it copies, as shown, though my cursor has disappeared for some reason. I then just paste it into my forum entry.

If you mean the thumbnails of my own pics, on my own computer's file, there's no "gearwheel icon" anywhere on the screen. Sorry to be so pestilentially stupid, but could you dumb it down a bit further? It's clear you know your stuff, but I'm not following it!

The instructions were specifically for posting images, already up loaded to Photobucket, directly into posts from the new Photobucket site.

Images stored on P'bucket can be displayed as thumbnails in album pages. Links can be obtained from those which can be pasted into posts. The instructions I gave were for obtaining those links.

Several ways of skinning the same cat, as you can see from the responses but it seems that "my" method was the one the OP was looking for.

The attachment method ... which enables you to upload photos directly to the forum from your own computer without using a photo-hosting site is useful if its something you only occasionally do but it has its limitations.

I have several hundred images stored on Photobucket, mostly uploaded for use with these forums. The attachment method does not allow anything like that many to be stored.

I was right! You do know your stuff!! Okay, first things first...how do I fill my bucket? Or is that another quite separate, superating can of worms?

Yes another can of worms

Photobucket is a photo hosting site http://s50.photobucket.com/
Its quite a complex site , all singing all dancing, that enables you to upload photos and videos and then use them on forums, websites, emails, social media sites etc etc.

I guess Photobucket is the most used photohosting site but many people use Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/ There are many others, some very basic. Tinypic http://tinypic.com/ for example is a mini version of Photobucket. I have noticed people using Dropbox too https://www.dropbox.com/

If you mean "how do you upload photos into Photobucket?", you click on "upload" on the black bar at the top and then "browse files" when it comes (or drag & drop, which I haven't got to work). For some reason, I need to click on "browse files" twice, but then things go smoothly enough. I keep a folder in My Pictures just for Photobucket pics to make finding photos easier. You can deal with multiple photos by holding Control while selecting..

Thanks for those hints gentlemen. I may look into the bucket, or its equivalents, tomorrow when I'm feeling stronger! :)

If you have multiple albums in you Photobucket account you also have to select the destination album, although you can move pictures later. You also have to set the required size in " Customise upload options" . Although you can reduce the size later if needed you cannot increase it.

Drag and drop works Ok for me, although I dont find it all that convenient and dont normally use it

A single click on the browse button works for for me too
