I have been keeping a photo diary of all the jobs we do on our boat.

Let me know what you think so far, I will be adding more. This may be of interest to any Sealine 305 owners out there.

You b00ger! I wish I had done that, not that mine is nearly as neat a job as yours; but still.

Think I prefered her before you started on the work. Only joking, she looks great must have been many hours of toil.
how many hrs do you reckon you spent ??
is the boat far from home - ie was it the odd hr frequently or a whole weekend in one go ??

Very tidy job. Great to see a boat get such a great new lease of life.

BTW, can you make your site a little narrower for us 800x600 viewers?

I have resized to fit an 800 x 600 screen. I did a rush job on the site really... /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Yes we have spent many hours working on the boat, all the work has been done over two winters.

We brought the boat on the Thames river, so initially we had her on the hard in Reading which is about 10 miles from our house. That was good to have the boat down the road, the amount of tools we would forget or need once we started working. That was the first winter.

This winter we are on the hard in Hythe, a bit more of a pain having a 1hour 20min drive each time, but hey.

To be honest I could not even guess the hours we have spent working on Talon, maybe my father, Talon2, could answer that.

I have to say I am very proud of the boat, but I have had days I wished to God we did not own a boat, it really takes up so much of your time and money. But now we are getting there I feel better about it./forums/images/icons/smile.gif

What sort of work have you guys done on your boats, any major structure changes inside?

Now it's too narrow!

Amend

to
.

Alternatively, tell me to sod off!

Hi,

A quick query, what was the "epoxy propellor paint" that you used on the props.
Does it last more than one season ?

Thanks,
dave.

Don't know, this is the first time we have used it like this. Hopefully, although I am not sure there are any paints that will last a season! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Gaaad, there is no pleasing some people, I was aware of the % option, I just chose to size it myself. Ok, last change, it is now 100%/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

It think its great to keep this kind of record.

We undertook a similar excercise last year only not so radical!

I'd be really interested to know what products you used on the props. It seems what ever I use flies off at the very point fwd gear is selected. This is despite patient stripping (doesn't that take forever) etch primer coats, and numerous top coats. Whats your receipe?

Kevin,

Have not seen you on here for a while!

http://www.seajetpaint.com/uk_site/main_page.htm this is where we got out paint. I have to say, this is our first season where we have applied it in, how you quite correctly say, the patient stripping way! So, who knows what the results will be. As you can see from the first photo of the prop, they were brand new last year with the manufacturers paint on it, and most of the paint had come off! So we decided this year to strip them right back, very carefully of course, and apply a really good epoxy undercoat, then antifoul.

My Dad really is the expert on this, he hands me the tools and says, "make it spotless boy...." I just do as I am told./forums/images/icons/wink.gif

This season we are going to leave the boat in the water longer, so we are planning on doing a half way lift out to check anodes, props, antifoul etc etc...

Despite last years efforts, our anodes got eaten to death over the season and the props were just starting to show signs of getting eaten as well, we caught them just in time. So that is not going to happen this year! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I was most interested in your pictures - especially the stern drive transom.

I have just had to have replaced the two transom shields at a cost of some £6000 on my Sealine 36.

This was partly due to fact that the seals had perished during her fist lay up for some 6 or 7 years!

It was also because their was excessive wear on the gimbal rings - that the surveyor missed on his inspection.

What a great Photo Site, nice to see what another 305 is like in photo form. I have been a year working on my 305 bringing it up to speed, I have 2x200 aqad41 engines on single props. My last and final job has been fitting new Stainless Steel rails and raked stanchions, replacing the wires. I am based at Fareham and will look out for you in the solent area.

yes, I would love to meet up and compare notes!

Thanks for your comments on the photos.....

I have loads more, but I thought they were the most interesting ones.

200s! I would love to know what they are like to service and work on. Do you do it yourself? I spend half my life laying next to the engines, sorting our oil pump pressure control valves, replacing anodes, fitting new blots to replace old rusty ones, also all our throttle control leavers fell of the wall in the engine compartment, so we fitted all them back up. I am not sure how we would have done all this with the 200s as you can not get down next to them! /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Drop me an email with your contact details if you like alex@mad-als.com

I have also updated the diary with the extinguisher fitting, someone was asking how to fit one in your engine room, well this is how we done ours.
