Hi Hopping someone might help my grandfather has a Philips AP navigator installed on his boat he really like it and doesn't won't to swop it out for anything modern.

I can get it to switch on but that's it nothing else is working I can push every button and nothing works it has a red light that flashes the time is incorrect but it still counting up. Also the strange thing is to get it on we turn it on by the fused switch and then push the contrast button and the unit comes on. But again no over button will do anything even the contrast button once it on dose nothing. Any help would be helpful before I have to brake the news and get him a new unit. I know it can't b used as a chart potter anymore he just wants it for speed and potions.

Thank you

There are a few on eBay, although there appear to be different models.

I doubt if these sell often - I'd make a buy-it-now offer for £20 and if the seller rejected it, try the next seller. I doubt if you'd have to go up to £50.

Thank you I have looked at a few I was hoping it might be a simple reset or update something simple that I'm missing have been researching with no luck.

I have a vague recollection they have an internal battery, and if so that dying might (or might not!) be the problem.

I imagine the battery would be a type that once could have been replaced, but whether the same type, or a substitute, is still available I don't know.
You are right they do have a battery and I think they are the reason this has happened as for 2 years over COVID the boat was in France but it wouldn't even switch on I have changed the batteries 3x N type it now at this stage

I suspect the clock is out of step due to rollovers. These were excellent devices in their time wit some excellent functions.
You might find a group of enthusiasts somewhere to help you.

The AP Mk6 is a very old device. May be wrong but I've a vague recollection that Comar Systems were Philips agents back in the day, here.
Perhaps there's a faint chance that they could put you on to an Owners Manual.

I have the Mk 8 version - see attached from manual.
If it is flashing red it appears that the back up batteries need replaced - hopefully the same for your version.

Mine has been removed from the boat and is available should you wish but worthwhile changing your batteries in the first instance.
