Before I consign it to a bin, can anyone confirm that the Philips ap navigator fitted to my boat is now useless? - due to the demise of the transmitter system etc.
Seems a shame to get rid as it looks a good bit of kit, and its going to leave a hole in the dash, which i'll have to fill with another piece of gadgetry!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had a friend who last year came to me and said he was having trouble with his decca navigator. When I explained that the system had been out of service for some time, he went away muttering that he had spent hours trying to get it to work.

No the system is dead and the sets have no commercial value.

Hi Chester 99,

Are you talking about the Decca version 'cos my fixed Phillips GPS is also called a Navigator? If it's the latter please through it in my direction if you do decide to chuck it!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

wow!! shipswoofy, never thought of that! must drag my old AP4 out of the cupboard. Now I,ll know when the frig is going to cut out on low volts instead of watching useless led,s

Sorry Jerryat, its a decca unit - just seems a shame to chuck out a perfectly good unit! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yep, I know just how you feel! We loved our Phillips Decca and it was in perfect working order when we replaced it with a GPS version. Damned shame to ditch it.

Amazingly we sold it to a local fisherman AFTER the Decca transmitters had been turned off! I explained to him that it wouldn't work any more, but he wanted it because he intended changing it to the GPS version with the 'mod' that was available (perhaps still is?) from Phillips.

Anyway, got a few ppounds for it, so you may care to go down that route and stick it on Ebay.
