Well, we did it. A trip to Lymington and back clinched it. What a lovely boat, and what engineering. Delivery is mid-March 2003.

Thanks for all the tips on mooring. I had thought this would be the main problem, so had already done some research - called most south coast marinas, and Channel Islands. All 'say' OK provided I called ahead a day or so, but would do their best even if I hadn't.

The unknown is France. But again, having seen large boats in many of their marinas, perhaps not a total no-go.

Now I must go and earn some sheckles to put fuel in the boat.

Oh, yes. The boat is a FLEMING 55, and I'll keep the name Play d'eau.

Complete contrast to the V39 Piers. Can I assume your getting into long distance cruising and that your
other half is also keen to do so ? Wish mine was like that.

Well done

Congratulations, fabulous boat. Are you staying in Berthon? Presumably moving to a down river pontoon. Good to hear you're keeping the PD name too! Fill it full of electronics, wont you. Well done on MBO sale, I assume that's happened. Was it fun and which VC mob did you have to negotiate with? I suspect you never want to meet another lawyer again, ever.....

Re: Well done

Oooer. You still have lots of lawyers to deal with then. Hope Flem55 takes your mind off it! Braveheart has left Berthon, it's now moored in Golfe Juan, I'm going there tonite. I think a Sealine will replace it in Lymington, we had paid up on the berth till next April but they let us sublet it. I will miss Lymington, it is easily the nicest place on the Solent imho. Praps I should buy another boat to keep there for the odd weekend, a V39 or something....?

Good choice, had a Fleming 53 for several years and was the best boat I ever owned. The only mistake I made was not having stabilisers fitted as she rolled a bit to much for SHMBO.

If you are ever in Dartmouth I would luv to see her.

I'll give you a call - can you PM me?

TRAC stabilisers are fitted to this boat. When we tried them, they even made the boat lean into a turn so coffee stayed level in the glass!

The LCD screen shows what's happening. We took a lifeboat wake almost broadside, and to see them work at stopping the boat from rolling was such fun.

Given hindsight, anything else you'd change?
