Hi All,

Having previously shied away from racing (far too stressfull!) I have now decied to enter my Maxi 1000 in the odd event. In order to do this, I have downloaded an IRC Rating form. I got as far as my name and boat name before I ran out of answers! I appreciate that many answers are particular to an individual boat but was wondering whether there was a source of info out there for the standard stuff?

Any ideas?

Dave

The Rating Office http://www.rorcrating.com/ could well have some standard data for your boat. Give'em a call, they won't bite.

It is very important when you measure the overhangs to have the boat empty. That means everything off. If it rattles it's got to go ashore. DLR (displacement length ratio) has a big impact on your rating. Your sails and rig must be measured individually too.

It's no good relying on manufacturer's information. For example, the builders of my boat guesstimated her displacement at 7 tons. When weighed with a calibrated load cell it came out at 8.3!
