Having just bought one of these boats my main gripe is the windy flybridge once under way. It seems the screen is too shallow and does not deflect the wind up and over our heads. We end up getting blasted which is lovely on a nice warm summer's day but right now it's bl..dy freezing after a while!!! It's common knowledge that this is an issue with the 46.

Does anyone know if a revised screen is in existence or how much it may cost to get a bespoke replacement made?

All fb boats I have ever been on exhibit the same problem (in the cold) or benefit (sunny day). Without trying to be smart and stating the obvious, surely it's best to accept it's freezing and go below into a nice heated helm position. That's what I do anyway.

Agreed, but it's nowhere near as exciting..................but an extended screen would reduce the buffeting to an extent where it's more comfortable and less of a gale blowing in your face!!
I just want improve what is an age old problem with some particular flybridge boats. Some are better than others.

Could you lower the seat?

I had thought of that to start with but not a practical solution as the squab sits on a fibreglass box moulding. Would be quite a job to alter or getting a new lower one made would mean sitting too close to the floor.

Could be a last resort but would perefer the higher screen route if it's available.

Are there any 3D curves on the current windshield? If there are then I think it's a call to Fairline, as anyone else is going to have to make a mould, which will be £££'s. Windshields can be glued quite succesfully, so you could possibly add to the current screen and use some stainless steel trim to cover the join? It wouldn't look perfect, but done properly you may be able to live with it.

Try Trend Marine Products. My guess is they supplied the OE, and might know of something suitable. They supply much of the Eu Marine Glazing. Check the corner of your screen. There should be a brand mark.

Call them on 01692 581307, or try www.trendmarine.com
