Grateful if any one can advise me of the likely cruising speed of a Fairline Phantom 37 in cruising trim with KAMD 42's.

Hello fellow Four legged friend.
I have a P37 with TAMD 63P's. Don't buy one with 42's, it will cruise at 20 ish knots and has a max speed of 28kt's. Also the engines will be thrashing themselves to death at 3000 rpm, compared to my docile 63's (I cruise at 22-24 kt's at 2200 to 2300 RPM, not much above the KAD 42's idle!)
The Phantom 37 is a great boat, we have been out in some pretty rough weather with her with no problems, lots of storage space, good 2nd Cabin, wide side decks e.t.c I could go on.
BUY ONE (with 63P's)
Me having fun!

Moose,

Many thanks for your response. Delighted to know I am not the only four footed beast on the net. Strange as it may seem, your comments did not put me off a P37 with 42's. My last boat (8 years 900 hours) had 40B'swhich had a max of 3600 rpm and which I used to cruise at 3250, so high speed diesels do not put me off per se. Similarly, a 20 kt cruise willl suit me fine. However, I would be interested to know whether the figures you quoted for speed were based on experience or came from a Fairline brochure. I have a sea trial coming up shortly and wanted to know whether the boat was performing as she should. The figures you quote confirm the spec I have but from experience a second opinion is always very valuable.

Another thing, the 42's are too wide so stepping on the treadplate is tricky. As you can see from the piccy the 63's fit nicely in there and don't spill over onto the treadplate.
The figures I quoted are from experince, and talking to every p37 owner I meet.
