Hi as title says , am wanting to run some descale through my petter twin .
Anyone have experience using ridem . how long do you leave in system for.

I had a Petter Minitwin in a previous boat, and it was outstandingly lightweight for the 12HP it produced. However, based upon my experiences with it over 5 years, I'd advise you to leave well alone. If it ain't broke... ;)

The root of all its problems was the fact that it was designed as an air-cooled dumpertruck/cement mixer engine & as such was never meant to be water cooled.

It has iron (steel?) 'wet liners' i.e. cylinders, with aluminium cylinder heads sealed with a copper head gaskets. Just add (salt) cooling water & you've got enough internal electrolysis to power a small town  and the aluminum is 'weakest' metal in the mix.

Any descaler might attack the aluminium. It might even be that any scale is actually helping to insulate the aluminium from any electrolysis.

Do change the cylinder head anodes very regularly though & don't use sealant.
