Sorry to show off new boat but I just can't help it. I'm so chuffed ! It's a Nimbus 42 Nova.

Also sorry I don't have any of my own pics, just this brochure pic. Maybe later when I actually get the boat.

I went to Sweden with Swmbo to look at the NordWest boats but the second hand 390's were nearly as expensive as the new ones & they couldn't deliver a new one until next September. Patience has never been one of my virtues.

Nordwest were very good though & we had great tour of the factory. Understand now why they cost so much.

Anyway, we went back to Nimbus after having looked at the 42 at SIBS and took it out for a sea trial. It had been blowing near F8 and the sea was pretty angry. I was pleasantly surprised at the way she handled so we thought about it for the weekend then decided to go for it.

Can't wait to go collect her /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wow - congratulations!!! Nimbus make beautiful boats better than NordWest in my opinion...

Looks like we'll all have new boats in Sovereign Harbour soon... I sold my S42 in favour of a new T50 that turns up in December.

Stunning boat. It was a Nimbus catologue that got us into boating, still look forward to getting one one day! The 42 is georgous.

Hope to bump into you at Eastbourne soon /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'll be looking out for you. I've made a promise to myself to get down there much more often after "investing" all that money in new boat !

I think the Storebro Commander 41 is the same hull as my boat. Apparently my boat was actually built by Storebro not Nimbus.
There seems to be a partnership where Nimbus are building the smaller boats (38 & under ?) and Storebro the bigger ones. I could have mine badged by either. Not really sure which way to go ?

Funny you should say that. At the moment it's badged Storebro. I said I'd prefer Nimbus. He said it was only held on with industrial velco /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif and I could change it to Nimbus if I wanted but in his opinion Storebro had an better name. Sounds like a bit of an identity crisis ?

I think I may ask for Nimbus badge as well & see which one is 'prettiest". Then get it fixed on properly !

Congrats Petrolia. Absolutely smashing looking boat. This time last year I was going through the same feeling - when do you pick her up?
Care to expand on the spec, engines, drives, speed etc?
For what it's worth, I have heard good things about Nimbus but hadn't heard of Storebro before /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Congrats to you too, not long to wait now.

I pick the boat up November 18th.

She has twin D6 EVC 370's on V drive shafts.
Top speed is 32knts.

3 cabins, two pretty good ones & a smaller one.
Two heads, one with a separate shower. (Swmbo essential)

Some of the things I really like are side doors for Helmsman & Co-pilot, forward facing seats for 4 people and the saloon opens up to the cockpit through triple sliding doors.
Also full walk around decks of course.

Superb choice - lovely boat. We had a look at a 42 at the Nimbus yard at Goteburg this summer - very nice layout, and superb detailing. Glad, but not surprised to hear that she handled a seaway well, too.
I do like the open cockpit, spacious stern platform and level wheelhouse, all on one level - and the walk-round side decks.
Well done (and quite a quick delivery time as well...)
Best wishes.
