Here, in Florida it's *43p per litre, about 1/3rd of UK prices. And this is the highest price petrol has been, ever.

(*$3.20 per US gallon/$2 = £1)

Sounds expensive, when I was in Florida used to pay 99cents/gal us and lug it to the boat ! To put that in perspective,a block of ice and a pack of fags were the same price also, thus by scrabbling around on the floor of the car,3 daily items of shopping were sorted without resort to the piggy bank !

Yes, I remember when it was that price, too! In fact it went down to 85 cents/gal just a few years ago. The Americans are incensed that their 'gas' is so expensive today. It dominates the news (I'm glad as it gives us a break from Iraq!). Having been away for 9 months I'm going to get a shock at the pump when I get back to the UK next week.
Fortunately, my boat in the Solent is diesel and fairly frugal.

Here in Norway it varies:

At marinas:
Petrol: 95 Oct= £1.15 upto £1.45
Diese: £0.65 upto £1.05 (red prices which we have retained as not EU;-))

At roadside forecourts the price is typically in the lower band...

But most of us have "cards", for example a <Statoil> card gives you 3p rebate ... and you pay monthly ... not a great saving but having used 2720 litres of diesel last year and 12000 litres of (car) petrol ... it adds up ;-))

About 1 euro per litre, but we in Belgium have something interesting called a "gedoogbeleid" until end of 2007, a word for which I have absolutely no translation but in effect means they won't check until 2008. So I now know all the pumps that still do red diesel at 65 cents a litre and fill cans whenever I feel up to it.

Thanks for the information, I will fill up prior to crossing the channel to the East coast later this month. And save the receipts from last year, of course.
