My Jeanneau Sunway has 2 cockpit lockers. Both have mouldings and tie downs for various essential items. The Port locker holds the battery snugly in a 1" integrated tray with stainless eyes and a small piece of rope with which to lash it down. The Starboard locker has a very similar set-up (although bigger) housing the fuel tank for the outboard. There is a cut-out in the locker lid 'lip' so the fuel line can be passed through to the engine. The system works fine, however, I am concerned that once the vent is opened on the tank, petrol vapours will fill the locker and sneak into the cabin with unimaginable consequences.
Does anyone know if the vent on a 20lt portable fuel tank only work in one direction. i.e. allows air in to replace the fuel being sucked out without the vapour escaping.
Up to now I have to lift the tank out of the locker and put it on the cockpit floor before motoring, where it gets in the way, slides around (there are no means of lashing it down) and kinks the pipe.
