I thought it may be useful to start a list of nearby places, some of these I can't verify are actually there, but hopefully someone can:
Actually that reminds me, if it helps at all, here are some of the stop offs where you can get petrol:
Opposite Kew Marine- Just before Kew Bridge, if you can moor up next to the steps, climb up and turn left, however this isn't a secure mooring. If you can book a mooring at Kew Marine, this is secure, but does mean you'll have to cross the bridge with the petrol.
Putney- Lower Richmond road, moor up near The Ship pub.
Opposite Cadagon Pier- There are some steps in the river wall, near a block of flats, there is a petrol station about a 5 min walk away from here.
Limehouse Basin- I'm told there is a petrol station fairly easily accesible just up one of the canals, a fairly short distance (unverified). Failing that there is a Texaco garage which is near by car, but could easily be a 15 minute walk away.
South Dock Marina- 24 hour (only staffed during the day) Tesco petrol station, 15-20 minutes away on foot.
Greenwich Yacht Club- There is a Sainsburys petrol station about a 10 minute walk away.
The River Lea- I believe there is a garage the other side of a road that runs next to the river, this is apparently accesible via some steps/a ladder, also only possible at high tide (unverified).
Gallions Reach- Probably a 15-20 minute walk (without the petrol) is a Tesco petrol station, in a car its a 5-10 minute journey.
