I was looking to order/buy a couple of Sta-Lok or perhaps Norseman swageless standing-rigging fittings and on the Jimmy Green website I came across the Petersen brand - I'd never heard of them - which looked like doing my job better than either of the others; they also look like being slightly easier/simpler to install?

Has anyone any experience of using them, which they're able to pass on?

Thanks, Bob

Unfortunately I can't help you, but I have also been looking into these fittings. A big potential plus point is that the cones do not need replaced. My boat is kitted out with Norseman terminals, for which the cones are no longer available, so I would be delighted to buy into a more future-proof system.
Everything I have read about the Petersen terminals has been positive- supposedly they are stronger, kinder to the wire, and easier to make up than the alternatives.

Thanks for the link Vyv.
What would be the thinking on mixing threaded components in a turnbuckle? I'd like to use Petersen swageless stud terminals at the lower end of each shroud, but I'm finding it difficult to source the necessary Petersen bottlescrews. I can get Sta Lok ones easily enough, and in theory it is the same thread.
The alternative would be to use a Petersen swageless eye terminal, and get a Sta Lok screw with a fork, but that is an additional clevis pin and therefor another potential point of failure.

I would give Petersen a call first. I am told that a lot of their products are not yet on the website. Seems odd that they show bottlescrews on the front page but don't list them. Otherwise I cannot see a problem in mixing makers.

I have only used the smaller sizes of Sta Lok but have found them quite easy to make and re-make. They seem to have prevailed for a number of years so that might be a reason to look at them with some sympathy.

Weigh up the relative prices, buying a bag of spare Sta Lok cones would sort things out for the future - I see they are about 2 quid each.
