Peters Opal vs Used boat values??

Anyone got any views about used boat values for the brands distributed by PO?
Bavaria, Island Packet and Legend Yachts; Sealine, Rodman and Azimut motor cruisers and motor yachts!

I guess all of the used boat market - as well as the new boat market - will be depressed much more by this rotten summer than anything else. I suspect that this may have something to do with this Opal business.

My guess that that there will be a slight blip (downward) in the ranges that PO were sole distributors for. This will be because prospective buyers will be concerned about the availability of parts.

I certainly don't consider my Bavaria to be worth any less because PO are not around.

If anything, the prices are likely to increase!

If you need parts, I cannot see that there should be any problems, just go straight to the manufactures.

Can't see that it would make any difference at all, except if you were trying to sell a boat with a warranty provided by the importer and expected potential buyers to pay more on the basis of that warranty.

If the manufacturer had gone broke and there was no source of technical support or parts (although realistically how many parts do boat manufacturers actually make rather than just buy from known suppliers?), that would be completely different.

Luhrs Marine, the makers of Legend have stepped in and are contacting all Legend owners directly about service, supply, parts etc and have also stepped in at SIBS to make sure the Legends and support are there. So far seems very good and may increase s/h values s the direct link has always been best.
