A hundred thousand thanks, "webcraft" and "dmw", for your recommendations a few months ago at http://www.ybw.com/cgi-bin/forums/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=ym&Number=269512&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1

I've now read Peter Nichols "Sea Change" and "A Voyage for Madmen" back to back.

They are absolutely first class.

Gripping from start to finish and extremely well written. Easily in the Jonathan Raban class imho and I'm a big Raban fan.
Both books are entertaining, informative, captivating and deeply disturbing in equal measure. The conclusions of both books, different as they are in subject matter, actually shocked and upset me. Poor Nigel Tetley, what a shame.

My 'review' sounds a bit gloomy, but seriously folks, these are two very good reads indeed.
Highly recommended.
