As you probably know the design was commissioned by Arthur Ransome with a brief that he wanted the "nautical equivalent of a bathchair" for his retirement. That is what he got, although the later production version was changed to provide more accommodation, more sail area and a bigger engine. It is a motor sailor with a bit more emphasis on sail and good for coastal pottering. They are of course all wood and those that come on the market vary a lot in condition and price, but most cheap because keeping them going is not for the faint hearted.
While it would get you down to the Med (slowly) it is most unsuitable for warm weather, not just the effect of the climate on the structure of the boat, but the complicated rig, cluttered cockpit and claustrophobic interior would make life very uncomfortable.
