Can anybody suggest where I might obtain some acrylic (Perspex) sheet to replace a window panel in my boat? The ideal spec is 10mm thick,blue/black tint. Also any info on bedding sealants for this job would be appreciated.

Try your local plant glazing company. I got polycarbonate off cuts cheap and they cut them to size.

you'll get it cheaper by looking for sign-making companies in yellow pages. failing that there are usually a few ads in pbo.

for sealing, sikaflex or neoprene (look here. the sikaflex glue-on system is v. expensive and let me down.

where are you-- try Salford House windows in Sevenoaks--advertise at the rear of PBO. Use self adhesive neoprene tape- much easier and not a disaster if you need to remove the windows-- Sikaflex would probably remove the gel coat as well.

Sealant for Perspex windows

Look at Sikaflex for info. You need to be very careful which sealant you use, especially with polycarbonate. Only Sikaflex 295UV should be used, others will cause stress corrosion cracking.

In my area there's a plastics company that specialises in selling plastic barge boards, soffits, gutters, extrusions, plastic plumbing, PC roof glazing etc. They also do acrylic sheet, cut to size of required. Try a similar place in your area.

Richard.
