For those that haven't caught the Persevere at the start and want to catch up, but are daunted by the size of thread.
Persevere is a 117 year old Thames Sail Barge, she is 82 foot long , with a beam of 20 foot , and she is built almost entirely of wood. She was badly converted to liveaboard forty years ago , and has been going up and down on each tide ever since.
She has had very little in the way of maintainance , and after her previous owners decided to clean the bilges , she has leeks that mean she has to pump her bilges about twenty minutes in the hour at high tide, but she does float . A lot of her timbers need replacing, and the end is nigh merchants have said she will sink if you move her, on the other hand , the money grabbers have said they will move her with no insurance for £12,000-00 .
My intention is to beat all odds and , restore her to her former glory . At my expense ( I'm a worker not a jackpot winner ).
All this is going to take time , and the help from all forumites is very much appreciated .
However , please , for all , no responses on here , please use the Persevere thread until I get my website sorted .
This is so that I can ask for open help from other placs without people thinking, haven't got time to read that lot.
But thanks for all support so far everyone , she'll survive if I can do anything about it .
Please No Replies On Here , the last few entries should be all you need to read .
Thanks all
Dave
