I am interested in a Dockrell 37 which is on the market for sale. She is described as a Sparkman and Stephens design. Finding little in the way of any info on the web I emailed Sparkman and Stephens. They say that it is not one of their designs. I followed up with the suggestion (got it on a forum) that the Dockrell is a stretched Cutlass 33. Sparkman and Stephens also say that this is not known to them.
Can any one shed any light on this for me and also on the Dockrell 37.
Thanks in anticipation
David

According to the PBO "British Sailing Cruiser Guide" published ca 1981
The Dockrell 37 started off as the Deb33 before being given "an elongated afterbody".

The Designer is given as S & S/Dockrell, the builders as Dockrell Yachts Ltd

Perhaps it was the Deb 33 that was designed by S&S.

Actual length of the Dockrell 37 is given as 35.5ft

They say, "The finish is good, so is the handling"

It is an S&S design, a stretched Deb 33 some say.

Probably not one they are proud of to quote from the YM secondhand guide November 2001
"She handles reasonably well and is a good sea boat, but performance, though adequate, is not in the usual S&S class"

Dockerell had a habit of picking up others cast offs their other main boat was the old Hurley 27 and squeezing a bit of extra life out of them.

Hope this helps
