<ul type="square">3. One Day or Standard Permits allow surface investigation of the foreshore only up to a
depth of 3 inches, or 7.5cm. No tools other than hand tools shall be used for such
excavation.

4. A Mudlark Permit allows investigation of the foreshore only up to a depth of 3 feet 3
inches, or 1.0m. No tools other than hand tools shall be used for such excavation. Such
Permits are only available to current members of the Society of Thames Mudlarks.[/list]

I bet the society is a closed shop. Being given exclusive rights to aa are rich with historical finds is probably very lucrative. The fact that there are no contacts, no web site, no email address or other means of contacting them etc etc suggests that they definetly have something to hide and the just don't want the public to know about it.

I too want to be a member of the ancient society of Thames mudlarks!

Doesn't it sound cool? An extremely exclusive club like that that has no address or telephone number. To get in you have to go down to the mud at low tide and sidle up to a mudlark and casually talk about membership and initiation rituals and secret tattoos...

And all that treasure! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
