Perkins T6-354 SS Manifold

Are they much different for the vertical engines?

Have heard about joining the manifolds into the closed coooling circuit to make them last longer. Would like to do this on mine, but still havent found out how its done yet.

Interesting idea. I'd be inclined to put the thing on the output side of the raw water pump, rather than the input side as there's a long way to suck already. Wonder if the chap would do stainless intercoolers? I'm already having this looked into as a possibility.

An explanation can be found on one of the US marine diesel sites although I cant remember which, its quite straight forward, I got the bits and bobs to do it but never got round to it.

I think I once wrote up how to do it on here but the search facility is hopeless.

\Will report back if I find anything. At least then the manifold will have some protection by having antifreeze in it rather than salt water.

I suppose an standard universal intercooler of the correct size could be used as a replacement if one is needed. Just use different piping as nessessary.

From memory

1. Remove blank from spare outlet in body of fresh water pump, fit in a hose tail of correct side, fit a hose to this and connect onto front end of exhaust manifold.

2. Remove outlet hose from back of manifold, remove inspection plate from back of head, drill and tap inspection plate to take hose tail, refit inspection plate, connect with a hose to back of manifold.

3. Thats the manifold plumbed in.

4. Run a pipe from outlet of heat exchanger (now spare as it was connected to fornt of manifold) to water injection elbow.

5. Bosch.

Didn't know that there was such a thing. TheHP perkins' intercooler is a bit marginal on performance being close specced so where do I look at standard universal intercoolers? I had wondered about boilermaking skills and some stock copper pipes.
