Is the Perkins P4 essentially the same as the Perkins 4107/4108 ?

Looks pretty similar in a picture. Principally interested whether it would go onto the same engine mounts // propshaft coupling.

Many thanks , Nick

Totally different engine, and anything's better than the 499/107/108 series, but if the physical size is the same then no reason not to fit it.

And what did a 4 series ever do to you ?? I've had both 4-99 and 4-107 .... I'm happy ... same as many others with them. They plod on for years and years ...

I'm curious, because Ive never heard anything but good about the 4107/8 series except that its a big unit. Certainly mine is excellent.

I was just interested in the differences between the 2 units as they both appear to be similar 'ages' and power rating.

I found a good P4 for sale, and was wondering if it was worth buying to lay down as a spare. When I looked at the picture of it it looked very similar to my 4107.

Thanks Nick

4.108 has in fact no liners it is "parent bore" 4.107 was wet linered
and parts for these are becoming rare. 108 is a good solid lump, reliable, but can be a *** to start.
