Hello out there, peter is in the Dale area with an engine failure .He thought the problem was serious because of very high oil pressure reading, where as now it is thought to be an electrical problem.Peter has asked me if I could ask for help where I might obtain an oil pressure gauge for a perkins 4108. part no; something like vdo 27553630325 pressure reading measures from 0 to 80 lbs per sq inch.Would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction so I can obtain one . from her indoors.

I had an oil pressure gauge failure some years ago on a 4108.

I was advised by an engineer to check that oil was flooding the rocker box by looking through the oil filler cap- it was!

Oil pressure was OK, but gauge was u/s - replaced several weeks later

as a suggestion,

get a car oilpressure gauge and sensor from somewhere like halfords, or a pressure gauge from a engineers supplier, or plumbers merchant, as oil boilers are set with one in the 140 psi range

extreme high oil pressures are rare as it is quite difficult for the relief valve spring to get stronger. yes the valve could get blocked, but that would need long time poor servicing, no oil changes etc.

Pressure Gauge

I had a gauge pack up on me some time a go and had difficulty getting a Perkins replacement. In the end I had to settle for a mechanical gauge made by Murphy Instruments. Fits in very well.
