G'day all

Im looking at buying a boat with Perkins T6354 diesel engines. They are 145hp turbo versions.

Are the panel aware of any significant problems or things i should look at and check on these engines before handing over my money to avoid an empty wallet in the future?

Thanks

I have two of them (h63544T 165hp turbo)! Check for smoke after they have been running for about 5 minutes? if oil comes out of the exhust that is quite normal !

You could send oil to analysis but it must have been in the engine for at least 50 hours, costs about 100 each engine !

I love this engine it will run for ever , start every time and easy to maintain and to get parts for.

My recent boat purchase has a Perkins 4108 47hp, it must be at least 15 years old but runs superbly, no smoke and in the limited use i have made of it, about 10hours, no oil consumption.
I have tried to find a site where genuine spares, fuel and oil fiters etc can be obtained, would appreciate any suggestions.
Many thanks
Mike
